Life as a whole is filled with so many challenges. Being in the world alone is a challenge.
Attaining success is also challenging,
a whole lot of circumstance and situations just seem to hinder you.
At times these situations or circumstances make you fall into a depressive state,
a state of self pity where you keep telling yourself
“I can’t do it”, “I am tired”, “life is not fair”
but rather than have those depressing thoughts why not get on your feet and strive towards those situations and circumstances,
you would never have heard the story of Joseph . P Kennedy Senior if he blamed all is ordeals on situations and circumstances.
Joseph .P. Kennedy senior instilled in his children the unflagging passion to succeed in whatever they did.
A potato famine in 1848 had driven his father Patrick from Ireland to the shores of east Boston in America.
It did not take long for him to discover that America the dream land of opportunity was also a place of hostility and rejection for the Irish.
Where there was a job vacancy, there was always a sign with the inscription: Irish need not apply.
They were despised. For Joseph .P. Kennedy,
what better way could there be for him to revenge his past of humiliation and pain than to raise his children to become what the society said they could not become.
Besides that he had a compulsive tenacious focus to make his first son Joe junior the first Irish catholic president in the united state of America.
But Joe junior was killed on a bombing mission over Europe and their father Joseph senior decided that John .F Kennedy should take over his late brothers intended role by entering the political arena.
Brushing aside any perceived opposition to his catholic religion he eventually emerged to become the president of the united state of America in 1960.
Joseph senior never backed down from his dreams. No matter the circumstance that presented itself.
He challenged himself and told himself that his children would become what society said they cannot be.
When life throws challenges at you challenge yourself.
Ralph waldo emerson said “self trust is the first secret of success. Do the thing you fear the most and the death of fear is certain”
