Every single human being in the world has a dream, that one thing that inspires them to wake up in the morning.
Most people in the world today know exactly what that dream is and they have already set plans in place to achieve it,
some other set of people know the dream but they don’t know how to achieve it and some people don’t even know that they have dreams.
The story I am about to share with you is a story that motivated me towards knowing my dreams, pursing them and never giving up.
A man owns a very large compound that contains lots of houses at allen avenue in ikeja, lagos, Nigeria. Allen avenue is one of the most expensive parts of the city of lagos.
The man acquired this parcel of land several years ago when the place was undeveloped and covered with tress.
When the man was going to purchase the land to put up those houses,
a number of persons including his relatives said that he was out of his senses because he was going to build a house in the bush.
In spite of these discouraging words, the man went ahead, purchased the land and built on it. Today, the story is different.
If he decides to sell the properties there, he would become a multi-millionaire on face value.
Note that anything that produces great results in the future suffers from initial battles/discouragement.
If you have great ideas to start something or you have already started and you are getting discouraged,
listen to the words of Willard Marriott,
“Good timber does not grow with ease the stronger the wind the stronger the tress.”
Just look at the way the jews were mocked while building the great walls of Jerusalem in Nehemiah 4:1-2
When sanballat heard that we jews had begun rebuilding the wall, he became furious and began to ridicule us. In front of his companions and the Samaritan troops he said, what do these miserable jews think they’re doing? Do they intend to rebuild the city? Do they think that by offering sacrifices they can finish the works in one day? Can thay make building stones out of heaps of burnt rubble?
If your destiny is great, you will pass through great detours.
If your star is wonderful, your path may be full of wonderful scars
but that doesn’t mean you should not strive towards attaining success.
The jews were mocked but they never stopped.
They would have just said to themselves that the project they are doing was rather too tasking
and they don’t have the necessary equipments or abilities to complete it, but NO! Despite all the mockery, it gave them strength to forge ahead.
People might have mocked you one way or another that does not mean you should give up. Baby Jesus grew up in Egypt as a refugee but he still attained success. Hear the words of Goethe
“Hell begins the day that God grants you the vision too see”
All that you could have done should have done and would have done but did not do. Do not let the Sanballats and Tobiahs of this world stiffen your vision. Resist depression and self pity. Today go start something and keep going with your dreams.
Let your dreams set sail! Go start something small
