Mockery close is the winner’s pathway

Let me start by sharing a story

that made me understand that with determination and persistence

a man can achieve just about anything in this world.

There was a young man who had admission into a Polytechnic,

this young man went through the polytechnic and obtained a diploma.

Now, because he was not a university graduate, his peers began to mock and discriminate him.

Instead of backing down and feeling sorry for himself,

this young man took it up as a challenge, enrolled in a University by direct entry to read Computer Science. He finished the course with a first class degree.

Based on his performance,

he immediately got a scholarship to South Africa to do master’s degree in the same course.

Afterwards, he got good employment. Today he works with a good pay and he is the envy of those that once laughed at him.

Now human beings sometimes laugh at others once they see or recognize certain shortcomings in their lives.

At times people tend to see some things in you that they don’t have in themselves,

instead of addressing this short comings; they make it a habit to mock you continually.

The problem often times is not those who laugh at you but what you do with the object of laughter. Most people would wallow in self pity and expect everyone to join them in the pity party.

What you do with mockery or adversity is a yard stick that shows how determined you are to be successful in life.

Listen to the words of Theodore Rubin

“The problem is not that they are problems, the problem is expecting others to think that having problems is a problem”.

In order to attain success you must learn to rise above the challenge,

you must make sure that circumstances and situations do not get to you. Oh yes you tried once and failed, so what?

Try and try again. Oh yes your background amounts to nothing, so what?

Even the people that their background is awesome today,

there was a time where that same background was nothing to write home about.

Oh yes people are laughing at you, so what? You are definitely not the first. In 1st Sam 1:4 -6, it says

4 And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:  5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the Lord had shut up her womb.  6 And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the Lord had shut up her womb.

KJV

As you can see above, Hannah was mocked, but did she give up, the answer is NO, but rather she increased her prayers to God. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was mocked, but did that stop him from dying on the cross for you and I, the answer is NO.

Just sit for a while and picture it;

if Jesus decided to give up, If he decided to say No God I cannot undertake this task,

the people do not believe me,

they are laughing at me, mocking me,

throwing things at me, there is no need dying for their sin. Where do you think you and I would have been

today? But even with all the laughter, the hatred, the disdain, the mockery, he still made it to the cross. If we say we are Christians, then we must emulate the ways of Jesus Christ. At a stage, David’s life became a comedy when he acted madness in 1st Sam 21:13.

And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.

KJV

Don’t forget that every great man or woman must pass through the popular street called Mockery Close. It is always a close because millions don’t survive that phase of their lives.

Be focused on your tomorrow and refuse to look down on yourself

or explain to anyone because your success would be your greatest defence.

As you begin 2018 Ignore what people are saying about you
